PERT pipe

PE-RT piping: is a non-crosslinked polyethylene that can be used for hot-water pipelines—also known as heat-resistant polyethylene pipes for both cold and hot water applications, abbreviated as PE-RT in English. It is a new type of polyethylene product manufactured using a special molecular design and synthesis process. This material is a copolymer of ethylene and octene. In terms of molecular structure, its main chain consists of linear polyethylene, while shorter molecular chains of octene form its side branches. During the polymerization process, the number and distribution of these side branches on the polyethylene chains are carefully controlled, giving the material excellent heat resistance and outstanding long-term resistance to static hydraulic pressure. Additionally, PE-RT exhibits easy bendability without deformation or rebound, making it an ideal pipe material for underfloor heating systems.

Product Introduction

Hot- and cold-water pipes made from heat-resistant polyethylene, abbreviated as PE-RT in English, are a type of non-crosslinked polyethylene suitable for hot-water piping. This is a new polyethylene product manufactured using a special molecular design and synthesis process. The material is a copolymer of ethylene and octene. In terms of molecular structure, its main chain consists of linear polyethylene, while shorter chains of octene form the side branches. During the polymerization process, the number and distribution of these side branches on the polyethylene chains are carefully controlled, giving the material excellent heat resistance and outstanding long-term resistance to static hydraulic pressure. Moreover, PE-RT exhibits easy bendability without deformation or rebound, making it an ideal pipe material for underfloor heating systems.

Product Features

Long service life; excellent thermal stability and long-term pressure resistance, making it suitable for hot-water piping systems and meeting 50-year usage requirements.

Low-temperature impact resistance: PE-RT pipes exhibit excellent low-temperature impact resistance, making them less likely to crack or break under impact during winter construction.

Hygienic and non-toxic; Meiergu brand PE-RT pipe products are “health-friendly and environmentally friendly” green building materials. All their hygiene indicators meet national hygiene standards and can be directly used in purified water delivery systems.

It boasts excellent flexibility; the pipes can be straight or bent, making installation convenient. When installed in low-temperature environments, there’s no need to preheat the pipe material, ensuring easy and hassle-free construction.

Environmental friendliness: The materials are recyclable, do not pollute the environment, and qualify as eco-friendly and energy-saving products.

Processing performance stability: PEX faces challenges such as controlling the uniformity of crosslinking, making its processing complex and directly affecting the performance of the pipe material. In contrast, PE-RT is easy to process, and its pipe performance is largely determined by the raw materials, resulting in relatively stable performance.

Good thermal performance: PE-RT boasts excellent thermal performance, with a thermal conductivity of 0.4 W/m·K. In heating applications, this enhances heat transfer efficiency and significantly saves energy.

Application areas

PE-RT underfloor heating pipes are suitable for residential buildings, villas, hotels, office buildings, shopping malls, hospitals, theaters, schools, libraries, exhibition halls, conference centers, swimming pools, entertainment venues, and more.

PE-RT underfloor heating pipes are also used in industrial applications such as greenhouses, flower houses, machine rooms, fish farms, nurseries, livestock farms, and airports, as well as in ground snow-melting projects for outdoor stations, parking lots, ramps, and other outdoor sports areas.

Building cold and hot water supply, piped potable water systems. Fluid conveyance pipelines for beverages, alcoholic drinks, milk, and other liquids in the food industry.

PE-RT Pipe Installation Method

1.1 Lay the insulation boards and secure them to the ground using steel nails.

1.2 Select the indoor layout and installation method;

1.3 Lay and secure the pipes as required;

1.4 After the pipelines have been laid and installed, they should be uniformly routed to the manifold installation location.

1.5. Conduct system hydrostatic tests separately before pouring the concrete filling layer and after the concrete filling layer has completed its curing period, inside the dedicated box for the fixed manifold.

2. Construction Precautions

2.1 When bending PE-RT pipes, no heating is required. The bending radius should not be less than 8 times the outer diameter of the pipe. Fixed clips must be used for securing the pipe, and clips should be spaced every 12 cm along the bend.

2.2 When laying pipelines, follow the design specifications. The laid pipes must be horizontally and vertically aligned and all lie on the same straight line. They should be secured at the markings for the insulation layer. For straight pipe sections, use clamps every 60 cm to prevent pipe deformation.

2.3 After laying the PE-RT pipes, proceed sequentially as follows: first lay the steel wire mesh, then pour cement mortar, and finally pave the floor. The paving from the original ground level to the finished floor height should be 70–100 mm. The steel wire mesh to be laid should have a diameter of 25 mm and a mesh size of 50 mm in both length and width.

2.4 The pipe sections at the beginning and end of the heating pipe that extend above ground to a length of 1 meter from the manifold shall be equipped with insulation measures such as sleeves, and care must be taken to prevent the edges of the floor covering from scratching the pipes during flooring installation.

2.5 When installing the manifold, it must be securely fixed to a wall or in a dedicated enclosure. When installed horizontally, the manifold should be positioned above the collector, with a center-to-center distance of 200 mm; the center of the collector must be no less than 300 mm above the ground. When installed vertically, the lower end of the manifold should be no less than 150 mm above the ground. After the underfloor heating pipes are firmly connected to the manifold, each circuit should be gradually flushed until clear water is the primary discharge from the pipes.

2.6 After the piping installation is completed, a hydrostatic pressure test must be conducted on the pipes before they are concealed. The test pressure shall be 1.5 times the working pressure of the pipes and must not be less than 0.6 MPa. Before pouring the concrete filling layer and after the concrete filling layer has cured, a system hydrostatic pressure test shall be performed separately. The test pressure for each test shall be the working pressure at the highest point of the system plus 0.2 MPa, with the test pressure at the highest point of the system not less than 0.4 MPa.
