Drip irrigation tape uses plastic tubing (drip irrigation pipes) to deliver water directly to the root zones of crops through tiny openings or drippers with a diameter of about 10 mm. Water is delivered in small, uniform, and slow drops precisely at the soil near the crop roots via very small outlet holes in the drippers or on the drip irrigation tape itself.
Drip irrigation tapes are categorized into inline drip tapes and labyrinth drip tapes. Inline drip tapes are those in which pre-manufactured drippers are embedded directly into the main tube during the manufacturing process—examples include patch-type drip tapes and inline cylindrical drip pipes. Labyrinth thin-wall drip tapes, on the other hand, have water-emitting outlets with various shaped pressure-reducing channels thermally welded onto one side or the middle portion of the tube during the production of thin-wall tubing—for instance, labyrinth drip tapes and blue-track drip tapes.
