As we all know, PPR pipes used in home decoration are divided into two types: cold-water and hot-water pipes. So, what exactly is the difference between cold-water and hot-water pipes? Let’s learn about it together below!
The primary difference between hot- and cold-water pipes lies in their pressure resistance: Cold-water pipes can withstand pressures of 1.25 or 1.6 megapascals, while hot-water pipes can handle pressures of 2.0 or 2.5 megapascals. Because of these differing pressure ratings, cold- and hot-water pipes have different wall thicknesses and consequently different prices. Hot-water pipes have thicker walls than cold-water pipes and are therefore more expensive. Hot-water pipes are marked with a red line. Additionally, even when comparing pipes of the same specification, you can distinguish between cold- and hot-water pipes by examining their wall thicknesses.

2. The maximum temperature resistance of cold-water pipes must not exceed 90 degrees Celsius; otherwise, prolonged operation in hot-water conditions will quickly cause them to age and crack. Moreover, hot-water pipes are more expensive than cold-water pipes.
3. The difference between hot-water and cold-water pipes in home decoration lies in the thickness of their pipe walls—specifically, their pressure-resistance ratings differ. Hot-water pipes have a higher pressure-resistance rating than cold-water pipes. Therefore, hot-water pipes can carry cold water, but cold-water pipes cannot carry hot water. Since cold-water pipes are typically located on the left and hot-water pipes on the right, and most people are more dexterous with their right hand and tend to use it more often, the faucets for cold and hot water are arranged side by side. Moreover, since cold water is used more frequently than hot water, the cold-water faucet should be placed on the right side.
