Product Features: Natural gas PE pipes must withstand certain pressures, so PE resins with high molecular weights and excellent mechanical properties are typically chosen. A good pipeline should not only be economically viable but also offer a range of advantages, including stable and reliable connections, material resistance to impact, crack resistance, aging resistance, and corrosion resistance. Compared to traditional pipe materials, polyethylene pipes containing 2-2.5% uniformly distributed carbon black have a specified service life of 50 years and must be buried when used as gas pipelines. These pipes are significantly affected by temperature; if the ambient temperature exceeds their operating range, the pipes may prematurely age, lose strength, and eventually fail under the internal gas pressure, leading to natural gas leaks that pose serious hazards. Connection Methods: For PE gas pipes, there are two main connection methods: Electrofusion Welding—using a dedicated electrofusion welding machine to join straight pipes together or connect straight pipes to fittings. This method is commonly used for pipes up to 160 mm in diameter. Hot-Melt Butt Fusion—using a specialized butt-fusion welding machine to join pipes together, typically employed for pipes larger than 160 mm in diameter. Steel-to-Plastic Connections—can be made using flanges, threaded couplings, or other similar methods. Appearance Color: The most common color for PE gas pipes is black with yellow vertical stripes, while PE water pipes are black with blue stripes. Why are they marked with different colors? Of course, it’s to distinguish them clearly. However, some might say that apart from the color, they’re otherwise identical—but that’s a big mistake! Let’s continue: Since PE gas pipes carry gas, which can cause combustion and explosions due to friction, the material used for PE gas pipes includes an antistatic additive.
